Show Me That Game Face! Contest

I want to see your GAME FACE. As alluded to in some early posts, PDXBOX.NET is working on an ad campaign for a major tournament coming to Portland next year…and we need your help.  We want to feature the faces of actual gamers for the ad campaign.  Here it is…your chance at immortality.  Kind of.  

So to sweeten the deal, I’m gonna give the winner in each of the four categories the game of their choice.  The four categories are:

• The Heat Vision GAME FACE
• The Assassin GAME FACE
• The Oscar GAME FACE
• Best overall GAME FACE

Here are the category descriptions to help guide you in your selection, or even staging, of the photos you will submit.

The Heat Vision GAME FACE: Also known as the most intimidating face ever, or the face from hell.  This is the face designed to cause fear to break out in the heart of men.  This is the face that cuts through the night, the fog, and even darkness itself and sends the message far and wide…Don’t Mess With ME!

The Assassin GAME FACE: Also known as the silent but deadly type.  This is the face of the man/woman/beast/predator you don’t want to see in a dark alley, or isolated jungle…or on Xbox Live.  This is the face, that once you’ve seen it…you’re done.  It’s pretty much too late.

The Oscar GAME FACE: The Oscar is typified by two different “Oscars”…both of which feature smiles when beating you.  The first is Oscar De La Hoya, a boxer with a pretty good face, but even better punch.  The second is probably the scariest man with a smile on his face…The Joker.  Heath Ledger’s performance of the DC villain was chilling…so much he won an Oscar for that performance…arguably the best of his career.  Frightening.  The winner in this category will probably be smiling.

Best overall GAME FACE: Overall, I’m looking for a combination of all three faces in one…if that’s possible.  I’ll know it when I see it.

Here are the official rules:

• Before you submit a photo, please make sure you have registered as a member on this site. Only one submission per person is allowed.
• Submissions open at the time of this post, and close 11:59 pm, December 31, 2009, or when the total photos submitted get to 500.
• People can submit their photos by filling out the form below.
• The first 100 people to submit their pictures will be guaranteed a spot in the ad promotion… unless of course the picture is unacceptable.  See the submission details below.
• PDXBOX.NET staff will pick our top 5 in each category.
• We will post the top five in each category so you, the site members can vote on your favorites.  At the end of the day, we will tally up, and the bottom three finalists of each category will be removed.
• The votes will then be reset, and the voting will take place between the top two finalists.
• Winners will have the option of picking any game they they would like…as long it doesn’t go over $60.
• As always, normal rules and conditions apply.

Photo submission guidelines:

• Photos must be color jpg files.
• In order for your picture to be used in the ad campaign, it needs to primarily be of your face…hence the term GAME FACE.
• We reserve the right to crop down a picture as we see fit.  All submissions will be cropped down to a perfect square for proper use in the ad.
• Photos will be discarded if there is any objectionable material included in the photo.  Use common sense people.
• We will be using some images in posters, so it would help if images are at least 1024 pixels wide.
