Limbo

In addition to the usual “board game inspired” games I love to play, I’m a sucker for puzzle games.
Limbo is my new love.
I’ve been playing this since it came out and while I’ve gotten through it pretty quickly, I still have a bunch of achievements left to go back and find.
I love the easy controls (just three actions: directional, jump and special controls for actions like pushing, pulling and climbing, etc.). I also love the simple design of the game. Oh and it doesn’t hurt that it totally reminds me of Edward Gorey, an author and illustrator I’ve long loved for his macabre style.
Enter a dark, gray and eerie world as you search for your sister. Watch out for traps and falling objects and oh my god…the…
Well now I can’t say that part, you’ll have to find out for yourself. Oh and we were able to get a hilarious family video of my sister playing this one…it’s priceless when someone runs into the…well, you know.
But I do love, love, love the challenge of puzzle games. Test your senses and observation as the clues are all there and feel like neon signs after you’ve figured it out.
Jomo and I had a lot of fun getting through some of this together. it certainly helps to have someone who thinks differently that yourself to point out some of those small misses. Ugh. Smile.
I’m only slightly embarrassed to say that I preferred playing the game with the gore turned off, but watching flailing boy body parts got a bit old for me and I chose the black screen.
Give it a shot, it’s a good change of pace from the norm and you might just be stuck in limbo like we were for a few days as you figure this one out.
