As you can see by the above tweet…we’ve taken some questions about Brink. We just wanted to let people know that you don’t have to choose Brink if you win…you can have something else.  How about LA Noire…it comes out that night?

We had so much fun, and people have been asking for it…and to celebrate the release of Brink, we thought we would have another tournament like we did last fall for the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Announcing an ongoing series of tournaments, for those that like shooters…PDXBOX.NET presents Shooter Wars: a fundraiser for the Game It Up Initiative.

Tournament Format:

Shooter Wars features the two main shooters people are playing…and give winners a chance to win a newly released, or soon-to-be-relased shooter out for the Xbox 360.  For SW#1 we will have two tournaments… Call of Duty: Black Ops and Halo: Reach.  Gamers can sign up and participate in one or the other…or even both. Tournament registration fee:  only $5

Shooter Wars is a multi-site tournament taking place in a variety of locations around the greater Portland area.  Each site will host a qualifying event.  Winners of each qualifier will be guaranteed a spot in the championship round to compete against all the other qualifier winners, as well as some notable VIP’s.  Additional spots in the championship round will be offered to select 2nd place finishers of the qualifying rounds.

All games will be FFA/Slayer variants with select input from the participants.  Map selections will also be randomly chosen.

Prizes: Each Grand Champion will win a copy of Brink a free $60 game of their choice, as well as a free party rental from our partner, Xbus Games.

How to enter the Tournament:

Just show up at one or more of the qualifiers.  If you are under the age of 18 you will need to bring a signed minor release form. Registration fees for the tournament is cash only.

PRIZES:

The winner of the Championship round will get his choice of either Prestige Edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops, or a free Xbus Mobile Lan Party.  In addition we are currently soliciting prizes to be given away during a raffle that night. As we get more prizes we will list them here.

Then don’t miss this HALO-ween Halo:Reach Tournament.

Tournament details:

7 qualifying rounds with the first round starting at noon Pacific Standard Time.  Up to fifteen contestants will compete each round, with the top 2 advancing.  Each round will consist of as many games as we are able to fit into the round, which lasts approximately an hour and a half.  The gametypes/maps will vary according to player input, but will be focused around Slayer variants.  Points will accumulate throughout the round.  For each game played during that round, points are awarded as follows:  1st place – 3 points, 2nd place – 2 points, 3rd place – 1 point.  At the end of the round, the two contestants with the highest point totals will advance to the Championship round.

Championship Round details:

Once the last qualifier is concluded, the 14 finalists will compete in the championship round.  I anticipate this will start at 10:30 pm.  Again, the gametypes/maps will vary according to player input, but will be focused around Slayer variants.

Prize details:

The winner of the Championship round will win a $60 credit to the Gamestop store of their choice.

Tournament Registration:

1. This free tournament is open to all members of this site.  Sign up here if you have not yet done so.
2. Fill out the registration form below.
3. Invite your friends to join with you by posting on Twitter, Facebook, and the like.
4. Nazrhite will start sending friend requests on Saturday, the day before, so as to get through everyone by Sunday morning.  Be sure to accept the invite…or he can’t send you messages or invite you to play during your round.
5. On Sunday, October 31, 2010 sign into Xbox Live.  You will have a message from Nazrhite letting you know what round you will be playing, as well as any other last minute news.
6. Log into both Xbox Live & Halo Reach 10 minutes before your scheduled start and be ready to game it up.
7. As always, normal rules and conditions apply.

We are excited to announce a launch tournament in the weeks preceding the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops.  So to satisfy your Call of Duty fix, we are gonna send Modern Warfare 2 off in style with a multisite area-wide tournament. Xbus Games will be hosting a tournament at the following six qualifiers. The winner of each tournament will advance to the Championship round which will be held November 8, during the countdown to the midnight release of Call of Duty: Black Ops on November 9.   You can see the full prize list here.

GAME IT UP NORTHWEST, the official video game event of THE PORTLAND ROSE FESTIVAL, will be Memorial Day Weekend: May 28-30, 2010. In addition to our POLYTOURNY, we purpose to include programming that explores strengths of the gamer lifestyle, motivates individuals to maximize their personal potential, as well as fostering coordination at a massive scale. It is our desire that GAME IT UP NORTHWEST will serve annually as a gathering of the gaming community from the Pacific Northwest, giving a place for gamers and non-gamers alike to recognize, experience, and celebrate the multi-faceted experience of the gamer lifestyle. There are three core values that guide us in our programming of GAME IT UP NORTHWEST: Competition, Creativity, & Community.

All Halo 3 gamers…lets get down Friday, April 24th, 7:00.  We will have more details about the gametypes we will be playing.  I’m sure we’ll play some Spartan Hell for sure though…its too fun not to hit this.  Also, I’ve got some Halo 3 swag to give away to some of the nights participants.  Don’t forget to register on this site, as I only give out prizes to registered members.  Its free so MAN UP, and we will see you April 24th.

We are excited to participate and even somewhat sponsor the 1337 Game Camp being held this Friday & Saturday.  It will be held at the Intel Computer Clubhouse in North Portland.  While this event is only for high school students, we are pretty excited to be involved.
